Where to begin? Growing up I was the one always made fun of. I was too skinny, too ugly, not good enough.
These things followed me all through me life to present day. I was married at the age of 18 and was divorced at the age of 18. His mother didn't like me because I didn't have money, and I was a country girl. She gave him a choice to stay with me and have nothing or divorce me and have everything he wanted. He chose to divorce me.
I stayed single for 8 years, always swearing to never merry again. Should have stuck to that, but I didn't. I got pregnant with my oldest daughter in 1991 by "the sperm donor" (called that because he didn't want any part of her.)
I met my second husband (now EX) and dated for about 6 months and then married. After getting married, all the nice things he would do for me ended. He became the complete opposite: always putting me down. Mental and verbal abuse on the daily. He never had anything good to say. We had 6 children together (giving me 8 beautiful children) which filled my day and made it busy. Even though I gave him 6 beautiful kids, the abuse didn't stop. He used my part against me. His brother made a pass at me and instead of sticking up for me, he said that it was my fault because I used to work in a strip club, and I led him on. If going to the room crying because he (my husband) had just got finished screaming at me that I wasn't watching the kids close enough - and then his brother came into the room to talk to me and tried kissing me is my fault? Then yes it's my fault. But I don't feel it was my fault at all.
I went through this abuse from 1997 to 2007. Tried marriage counseling, because I didn't want to treat my family apart. One day at counseling, the counselor told him he to step up and do what she was asking him to do. He stood up looked at her and told her he needed to take a break. Then, he walked out and left. I burst into tears. I looked at her and said, "He won't be back, and I'm done." I left and the next day and filled for divorce. It took me about 3 months to get an apartment. I moved out and took my kids with me. It hasn't been easy, but I managed.
Then...I met this guy who was sweet, funny, and caring. Everything my ex wasn't. I fell for him book line and sinker. I was with him...but not with him as he didn't want a commitment - which was fine. I didn't want to get back into anything serious. We had a thing for 7 years. And then things got to real for him, and he was searching for a way out. He found it, and moved to NH and then to ME. I have went to see him twice. I am not a nosey person, but when I saw my name in one of his conversations with another girl, curiosity got the better of me. I waited till he went to the bathroom, grabbed his phone and checked the conversation (it makes me cry every time I think about it). She asked him if he was done with "stupid" yet ("stupid" being me). His reply was just: haha, he felt was, but had to stay because I wouldn't leave him alone. (The whole time I was laying next to him watching a movie) I laid his phone down and couldn't wait to leave to go back home to Minnesota.
My closest friend told me I deserved so much better.
It took months up on months for out to sink in.
One day we were working in the kitchen and I told her, "I want to do a portfolio (a boudoir photo shoot)." She looked at me, and I waited for the "Oh no, girl! Don't do that!" Instead, she asked me if it was for me or for him. Couldn't help but start crying again. I told her: "If I knew it would make him want me, I would do it in a heartbeat, but I know deep down he will never change and would all lauds put the other thing before me. So no it isn't for him, it's for me. I have to start doing me."
I have to start doing me.
She replied: "Then, I think you should do it." I went home that night and started searching. I searched for three days until I found Sugar and Spice Photography. I clicked on their website and then saw that they had a Tik Tok and started watching the videos. I knew then no one else could meet the needs that I wanted. So I emailed for information. When Sugar & Spice replied back, I got so excited that I nearly fell off my bed. And then came the phone call.
It was and is the BEST decision I made. I absolutely LOVED the session. I thought I was going to chicken out, or that I would get in there, and it wouldn't be what I thought it would be.
It truly was the BEST day I've ever had.
And yes, I plan on doing another session.
